About The Position

The Manufacturing Quality Technician at Classic Gears & Machining is responsible for maintaining quality standards throughout the production process. This role involves approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, ensuring that all meet specified quality standards. The technician will also document inspection results and maintain measurement equipment, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in a Quality and machine shop environment.
  • Previous machine shop experience strongly desirable.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, GD&T, material specifications, and tolerance zones.
  • Understanding and practice of ISO principles desirable.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.
  • PC literate with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Promoting process improvement and knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures.
  • CMM experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications and conducting visual and measurement tests.
  • Reject and document unacceptable materials.
  • Approve 1st articles and in-process production by confirming specifications and conducting tests.
  • Communicate required adjustments to the production supervisor.
  • Approve finished products by confirming specifications and conducting tests, returning products for re-work as necessary.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into the quality database.
  • Maintain measurement equipment operation.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
