About The Position

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer II (MQE) supports quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment. This role partners cross-functionally with engineering, production, planning, and supplier teams to ensure products meet established requirements and quality standards. The MQE actively participates in problem-solving, root cause investigations, process improvements, and real-time production floor support to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and basic statistical tools.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare clear, concise reports to support quality investigations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of APQP tools (D/PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP) with ability to support their development.
  • Basic auditing experience (internal, customer, or registrar).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in electronics or ordnance manufacturing is beneficial; familiarity with energetic materials or propellants is a plus.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies; certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with IPC‑610 or J‑STD‑001 standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and coordinating quality activities within an assigned work cell to ensure products meet established requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, planning, and other teams to support quality-related tasks and resolve issues.
  • Participate in investigations of internal and external quality concerns by gathering data, performing basic root-cause analysis, and supporting corrective action implementation.
  • Apply foundational problem‑solving tools such as 5‑Why, Fishbone, and basic 8D elements under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Review production documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support Supplier Development Engineering by documenting and communicating vendor hardware discrepancies.
  • Review work instructions and procedures to identify potential errors or improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts by recommending simple process controls and helping sustain implemented changes.
  • Attend daily management meetings to provide quality updates and support cross‑functional communication.
  • Assist with customer-facing quality activities, including preparing lot data packages and supporting First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation.
  • Spend the majority of time on the production floor supporting assembly operations and responding to quality issues in real time.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
