About The Position

The Quality Analyst will coordinate and perform daily quality testing and verification activities of the production lines while ensuring the highest quality product is ready for shipment. This is an “on the floor” position in the manufacturing environment with approximately 70% of the duties performed in manufacturing and 30% in the laboratory. LOCATION: Rochester, NY DEPARTMENT: Quality STATUS: Full Time JOB TYPE: Non-Exempt SHIFT: Must be able to work all shifts (including afternoons & overnights); weekends and OT as needed

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
  • Ability to ready, analyze, and interpret common trade journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, employees, managers, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions and apply them to practical solutions.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to regularly sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands or arms; and walk/climb stairs while carrying samples.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, up to and potentially the full shift.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to occasionally bend, climb, lift, and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work with moving mechanical parts and loud noise levels.
  • Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals and frequently duck under conveyors and equipment.
  • 2-year college degree in a science-related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of related quality/laboratory experience in a food/beverage production facility preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Trained in HACCP, federal food, and/or TTB standards is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and monitor results of Quality Control testing to ensure product safety and quality specifications are met on our packaging lines.
  • Perform daily data review of Quality Control records to ensure accuracy and to identify process improvement gaps.
  • Aid management in new product/raw material qualifications.
  • Ensure non-conforming raw ingredients and finished goods are identified, properly placed on hold, communicated, and dispositioned per FIFCO USA food safety and quality policies.
  • Work with all departments (Production, Maintenance, Quality, etc.) on non-conformance investigations, root cause, and corrective/preventative action.
  • Support management in day-to-day operation of Quality Control testing, inspection, and data collection (including, but not limited to: incoming raw materials, in process materials/products, and finished goods).
  • Ensure instrumentation used to perform testing/inspection are calibrated and verified with preventative maintenance completed.
  • Audit established SOP’s/Work Instructions for accuracy and update as needed.
  • Aid management in establishing and writing new SOP’s/Work Instructions for Quality Control Laboratory.
  • Formulate and interpret reports from testing data.
  • Discern off notes and characteristics of products through taste and other senses.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Aid supervisor in completion of safety-related paperwork (including, but not limited to: injury reporting and Safety Data Sheet review).
  • Keep up-to-date on all QC testing processes to help train new and existing employees.
  • Actively exhibit a commitment to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.

  • Set up and verify correct date codes on all packaging materials.
  • Understand, troubleshoot, and make recommendations to improve pasteurization processes.
  • Verify use of correct product and packaging materials during production.
  • Dissect can packaging seams and make recommendations to improve the seaming process.
  • Understand proper labeling compliance to state and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrate understanding and ability to coordinate the tank release process.
  • Perform CO2 receipts and testing.
  • Perform testing instrument maintenance (Orbisphere, In-line air meters, etc.).
  • Perform Brix, ABV, CO2, TPO, and Dissolved Oxygen tests as required.
  • Perform volumetric testing as required.
