About The Position

The Manufacturing/Production Technician position at J.M. Smucker involves working in a positive and encouraging environment that supports employees in delivering their best work. The position offers multiple openings in McCalla, Alabama, with day and night shifts available.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • 5+ years of previous manufacturing experience required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret safety rules and general instructions.
  • Good communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to use a computer and input data required for production.
  • Ability to perform critical thinking skills to problem solve.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Understand and support the J.M. Smucker McCalla safety program policies.
  • Improve documented operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards.
  • Create or update documentation as needed (SOPs, Job Aids, CIL Improvements).
  • Follow site attendance policy.
  • Adhere to the J.M. Smucker Basic Beliefs and Code of Conduct.
  • Work flexible schedules and overtime as needed.
  • Participate in technical training sessions and vendor visits.
  • Produce high-quality consumer foods.
  • Work in all areas of production and packaging as assigned.
  • Assist fellow team members and other departments as needed.
  • Lead a functional area for the team, including coaching and training.
  • Serve as equipment owner and lead projects for safety, quality, and production.
  • Train team members in designated equipment area.
  • Perform general maintenance and preventative maintenance as assigned.
  • Perform equipment changeovers.
  • Troubleshoot machinery and process issues.
  • Operate sanitation and material handling equipment.
  • Select and use appropriate basic hand tools.
  • Identify and correct equipment defects.
  • Use a computer to input and maintain accurate records.
  • Analyze information using principles of math and statistics.
  • Identify visual defects and make corrections.
  • Solve problems using analytical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Use continuous improvement tools to eliminate losses.
  • Complete other tasks as required.
