About The Position

Clorox Companies are looking to expand operations at our Aberdeen, Maryland plant location. We are adding staff to our production operations. Available openings are in our Packaging, Process, Molding, and Palletizing Departments. Candidates must be able to work all three (3) shifts and overtime as business needs to dictate. 1st shift: 7am – 3:30pm, 2nd shift: 3pm – 11:30pm, 3rd shift: 11pm – 7:30am All Production Positions start at $24.92/hr., with opportunities to advance through a skill-based pay system with pay rates ranging from $24.92/hr. to $28.30/hr. In a skill-based pay system, associates advance by learning and using the job-related skills and knowledge acquired as they progress through each skill level. Packaging Associates are responsible for filling containers with liquid bleach products. These responsibilities require knowledge of the operation of the filling equipment; a system of equipment located along a conveyor. Filling and packaging equipment may include an orientor, labeler, filler, capper, check weigher, coder, case packer and case sealer. Operate, monitor, and adjust the equipment along the lines. Add supplies Inspect the bottles before, during, and after filling Perform routine quality checks Perform changeovers Molding Team Molding Associates are responsible for blow molding plastic containers. These responsibilities require knowledge of the operation of blow molding; a system of equipment located along a conveyor line dedicated to a specific size container. The blow molding process equipment melts, extrudes and molds plastic into containers. These containers move along the conveyor for filling and capping or pal/depal for storage. Because the Associate works most of the time with a moving conveyor and equipment as well as high temperature equipment, concentration on the task at hand as well as an awareness of the overall operation is important. Starting the blow molder Operate moving machinery Unload supplies from trucks and rail cars Operate, monitor, and adjust the equipment along the lines Inspect the bottles before, during, and after filling Store and retrieve excess bottles from the warehouse Palletizer Team Palletizer associates are responsible for palletizing finished bleach products and transporting the packaged cases from the palletizer to the trucks or the warehouse. Palletizer equipment includes a palletizer, stretch wrapper, fill case conveyor, full load conveyor, and forklift trucks to move the packaged finished product. Order supplies, unload supplies from trucks Operate, monitor, and adjust the equipment along the packing line Add supplies Inspect the cases after filling Perform routine quality checks Restack pallets Process Team Process Associates are responsible for the production of liquid bleach products. Production is accomplished with a system of storage, mixing, blending, and holding tanks, pumps, associated piping, controls, and instrumentation to transfer the raw materials to mixing equipment and the prepared product to the packaging area. The handling of hazardous chemicals requires sound mental ability. Order and receipt of raw materials, supplies and parts Unload powdered raw materials from trucks Add raw materials Operate the process (mixing/blending) equipment Monitor the controls and instrumentation to produce the bleach product Test samples of raw materials and finished products at various stages Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies Troubleshoot the system Operate a train engine to move rail cars (Certified Associates) Install, repair, or modify the process system equipment Plan production schedules For all positions Responsibilities are dependent upon skill level and may include but not limited to the following for each role. Some responsibilities may be rotated, and some tasks require certification to be performed. Work is in a manufacturing plant. Primary hazards include working around electrical equipment, rotating equipment, slipping, falling, lifting, and moving heavy equipment. Because the associate works most of the time with moving equipment, concentration on the task at hand as well as an awareness of the overall operation is important. In a degree of strenuousness, these positions may be considered medium work. Medium work is defined as exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Objects weighing 50 or more pounds should be lifted/moved with assistance. Equipment used to assist with lifting may include a hydraulic pallet stand, genie boom, scissors lift, forklift, and cart. Common tasks for all positions: Troubleshoot the pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical equipment Clear equipment jams Rework damaged product Operate forklift Provide routine and preventative maintenance Perform equipment repairs Provide housekeeping to the equipment and area Prepare reports Take inventory Enter data into computer Attend meetings Communicate, supervise, and train others

Requirements

  • Candidates must satisfactorily complete the employment application with attached resume, as well as complete a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2 years of operating experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good, effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work any shift (1st, 2nd or 3rd shift)
  • Must be able to lift to and include 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand/walk up to 8 hours per shift
  • Resume required

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of operator experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Other transferable skills such as packaging equipment, auto mechanics, maintenance, blow molding, electrical, or machine shop
  • Military experience in the above.
  • Direct experience in Packaging, Molding, Process Operations, and Palletizing is highly preferred.
