Headquartered in Camas, Washington, nLIGHT is a publicly listed company (NASDAQ: LASR). nLIGHT is seeking a Manufacturing Process Technician to join our team at our Vancouver, Washington location. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the EMOF reactors and assessment tools either directly or through the work of operators/technicians. This individual is accountable for ensuring that the quality of materials produced by the EMOF tools meet the required specifications. Schedule (optional between two): Shift A: Sunday-Tuesday bi-Wednesday 5A-5:15P Shift C: Thursday-Saturday bi-Wednesday 5A-5:15P

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, or Chemistry or exceptional industrial experience in closely related technologies.
  • 1+ years work experience in volume Production environment working with electronics, semiconductor equipment or opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with mechanical drawings and basic tooling
  • Meticulous attention to detail, highly organized and self-motivated
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems independently
  • Ability to work with others in a professional and collaborative manner
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, follow-through, and minimum supervision
  • Ability to gown cleanroom attire and wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time including laser safety protective eyewear
  • Background interests in Science or Engineering
  • Good analytic and communication skills
  • Ability to clearly and effectively summarize and present results
  • Self-motivated and strong team player
  • Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work overtime as required to meet production output schedules
  • In order to be considered for this position, candidates must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process, as well as additional periodic background checks as required by the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) or regulations adopted by the Department of Homeland Security or other regulatory agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Laser or optics technology is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of optics, fibers, laser diodes and test equipment is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follows all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Supports government and internally funded research and development efforts by effective operation of EMOF processes
  • Sustains production EMOF wafer processes for manufacturing high power semiconductor lasers
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous yield, throughput, and cycle-time improvements
  • Monitors control of manufacturing processes through SPC
  • Creates and/or improves documentation of processes and procedures for ISO
  • Works collaboratively with process engineering to manage specific processes, and assists in defining and executing continuous process improvements
  • Helps define, and then executes routine process equipment maintenance
  • Acts as first line of defense in troubleshooting equipment and process issues, routine data collection and effective communication of status and solutions
  • Assists with the training and certification of Production Personnel
  • Supports implementation of process and BOM changes on the line
  • Leads by example in eliminating Process Engineering from Production’s critical path
  • Drives continuous improvement opportunities utilizing wide variety of analytical techniques (such as SPC, DOE, Gage R&R), lean manufacturing and six sigma concepts
