About The Position

Celestica is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in process development within a manufacturing environment. This role will primarily focus on supporting, optimizing, and documenting assembly processes for complex electronic systems, including key areas like liquid cooling integration and data center rack assembly (L11+). The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be essential in driving quality and efficiency on the production floor.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of direct experience as a Process, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineer in the electronics or complex system assembly industry.
  • Foundational knowledge of high-level system integration. Exposure to manufacturing processes involving liquid cooling or data center rack assembly is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (for basic fixturing/tooling design). Experience applying basic Six Sigma or Lean tools (e.g., 5S, value stream mapping) to a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with statistical analysis software is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of electronic assembly processes and quality methodologies (e.g., control plans, SPC).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Design).

Responsibilities

  • Process Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed manufacturing work instructions, process specifications, and visual aids for assigned product lines, ensuring all documents are current and adhere to quality standards.
  • Process Optimization & Analysis: Execute with support, capability of machines and process steps using Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical methods to ensure maximum utilization of critical resources, maximum throughput, minimum cost, and capacity growth; involves integrating equipment, people, material flow, and information systems.
  • Technical Support: Provide direct support to the production line, quickly resolving technical issues, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and addressing material variances to minimize line downtime.
  • NPI Implementation: Work closely with Lead Engineers to execute the transfer of new products (NPI) into the manufacturing environment, setting up initial line layouts, verifying fixtures, and validating process steps.
  • Liquid Cooling Focus: Support the specialized assembly and testing processes for liquid cooling components and rack integration. This includes monitoring cold plate mounting, leak detection, and system functional testing.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in failure analysis activities (e.g., 8D reports, root cause analysis) to identify and correct process-related defects and drive continuous improvement on the production floor.
  • Tooling & Fixturing: Design and procure basic fixtures and tooling using CAD software to improve operator ergonomics, ensure process repeatability, and prevent manufacturing defects.
  • Training: Train and certify production operators and technicians on new or modified processes and equipment operation to ensure consistency and compliance.
