About The Position

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a dynamic, results-driven individual to join as a Manufacturing Process Engineer Intern in our Summer Internship Program. The Manufacturing Process Engineer Intern will support manufacturing process development for power electronics Proto builds and work with the Proto operations group to build early units and define and document the process.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or be a graduate from an accredited college
  • GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or B average, upon initial hire date
  • Knowledge and experience with equipment operations – electronics assembly and mechanical assembly processes
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with Solidworks, NX or similar CAD tools
  • Experience with rapid prototype processing and 3D printing tools

Responsibilities

  • Design fixtures and methods for power electronics assemblies
  • Run process studies to prove process capabilities on key product attributes such as adhesive dispense and screwdriving
  • Support machine qualification for series manufacturing equipment
  • Develop leak test programs and conduct measurement system evaluation
  • Work with product design team on Design for Manufacturability issues
  • Assist with development of new process technologies including automation of assembly steps
