About The Position

Production Castings, Inc. is a family-owned manufacturer specializing in custom zinc and aluminum die cast components. We support a wide range of industries including automotive, industrial, consumer, and defense. With over 50 years of experience, PCI is a production leader committed to quality, technology, and continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will develop, improve, and support die casting and related manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve product quality. This is a hands-on engineering role that works closely with production, quality, tooling, and maintenance teams to support daily operations and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys problem-solving on the production floor and influencing change without direct authority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment (co-op/intern experience accepted).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, PowerPoint); MRP/ERP experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or SPC.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence others without direct authority.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in die casting, machining, or metal manufacturing preferred.
  • MRP/ERP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation (work instructions, process sheets, control plans).
  • Lead process optimization efforts for die casting operations focused on cycle time improvement.
  • Partner with production to troubleshoot process issues and drive root cause solutions.
  • Support tooling, fixture, and process improvements to improve quality and repeatability.
  • Introduce and validate new equipment, processes, and automation.
  • Track and improve key production metrics (scrap rates, downtime, cycle time, OEE).
  • Lead root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, etc.
  • Support Safe Launch processes and customer requirements for new product introduction.
  • Lead and track corrective and preventive actions to improve process performance and product quality.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Quality anticipating problems, providing input on solutions, reacting productively to change to enhance in-process inspection methods.
  • Work cross-functionally with leadership to support continuous improvement initiatives.
