About The Position

Develop, implement and scale New Manufacturing Technology for Product Programs that are aligned to the Product Design (PD) and Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME) strategies that will enable the delivery to external customers of an industry leading Electric Vehicle (PHEV/FHEV/BEV) Product Portfolio. As a Manufacturing Process Development Operations Engineer within the ATP organization, your role will be to lead the development of new manufacturing technologies, processes, tooling, equipment and engineering standards that will be focused on the Powertrain Propulsion Manufacturing Systems that span across the Electric Vehicle (EV) Core Manufacturing Vertical Integration Commodity Areas including: e-Drive Assembly Systems Commodity Battery Pack Assembly Systems Commodity These two (2) EV Core Manufacturing Systems Commodities, and their associated newly developed “Ford Firsts” manufacturing technologies, will be implemented and scaled extensively throughout the Ford Global EV manufacturing facilities. Collaborate with key Product Design (PD) and Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME) Skill Teams to identify, define and prioritize manufacturing technology development initiatives aligned to global manufacturing objectives: Establish and cascade the Manufacturing Technology Development Roadmaps for the EV Manufacturing Core Commodity Areas. Benchmark best practices and processes (internal/external), follow industry trends and emerging technologies. Drive the manufacturing technology development and establish the technical core competency base within the ATP organization for the EV Manufacturing Core Commodity Areas with a specific focus on the manufacturing main systems and sub-systems of these commodities as listed below: e-Drive Assembly Systems Commodity – eMotor Rotor / eMotor Stator / Power Unit Battery Pack Assembly Systems Commodity – Battery Tray / Battery Array & Battery Cell / Battery Pack Lead internal Ford and external Supplier cross functional teams to develop and deliver the new manufacturing technologies through ideation, concept generation, design, build and testing of prototype tooling and equipment: Adhere to the organization’s established and disciplined manufacturing technology development procedure in the execution and delivery of these new manufacturing technologies into the global manufacturing facilities. Apply a system engineering approach with Six Sigma methodology and data driven mindset on all manufacturing technology development projects to validate the process robustness prior to production implementation. Develop facility floor space and layout requirements at both Ford and non-Ford facilities – plan, schedule and lead the installation of the Process Automation prototype tooling and equipment at these facilities: Interface with MTD, UAW and Supplier Partners for testing and prove-out of prototype tooling and equipment. Coordinate manufacturing technology development project activities and balance travel as needed to complete tasks effectively leveraging a flexible work schedule between Ford on-site, Supplier on-site and remote off-site locations. Manage all aspects of the manufacturing technology development projects portfolio administration inclusive of: Budget forecasts, project funding submissions, supplier quote solicitation, purchase order placement, invoice processing and financial check book accounting. Prepare clear and concise technical and strategic packages for presentation, review and approval at the peer, cross-team, cross-organizational and Senior Leadership levels. Grow, secure and protect company intellectual property. Create core technology documentation and upload to information share sites to facilitate knowledge transfer to Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME) personnel and support technology replications across global manufacturing sites. Participate actively in the mentoring, coaching and learning cascade activities across the manufacturing engineering teams and serve as an advocate to foster a manufacturing technology innovation culture across the enterprise.
