About The Position

The Controller is responsible for preparing financial statements and internal financial reports, analyzing monthly revenue and expenses, reviewing bank and monthly balance sheet reconciliations, supervising AP/AR staff, and assisting with other finance department projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Advanced computer skills with the ability to compile complex spreadsheets to create meaningful and concise communications. Aptitude to learn and navigate multiple accounting systems as well as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and trouble shooting skills with the ability to prioritize projects efficiently.
  • Work requires strong professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, thorough knowledge of financial reporting and 5+ years related experience.
  • English proficiency required.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures and work as safe as possible at all times.
  • Perform or oversee all duties related to the monthly close process.
  • Supervise and coach AP/AR, overseeing monthly journal entries, bank and balance sheet reconciliations and other duties as assigned to the CFO.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial statements, internal financial reporting, and other recurring reporting as requested by the management team.
  • Review, analyze, and reconcile revenue and expense reports for accuracy, supporting management by creating reports focused to compare results to budget and facilitate informed decisions.
  • Suggest and implement accounting processes, control procedures, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee and review capital project and fixed asset accounting, including project cost tracking, auditing of existing fixed assets, classifying assets for income and property tax reporting, recording depreciation, and accounting for asset dispositions.
  • Interface with outside auditors for annual financial statement audit and tax return preparation, as well as other vendors as required.
  • Ensuring proper integration off all operational functions into the General Ledger.
  • Serve as a key backup to many of the key duties of the finance department.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the CFO.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and interaction with customers, coworkers, and management.
