About The Position

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION: Review, plan, and schedule raw material processing and equipment utilization in a manner that ensures the completion of customer orders, meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The essential duties and responsibilities listed below are not all encompassing. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned consistent with business requirements.) Perform review of customer orders, pre-costing data, special processing specifications, in-process production schedules, material inventory listings, equipment capacity and utilization schedules. Escalate to and review with Material Layout questionable or unusual product specifications. Perform material selection and production layout for a wide variety of special metal processing functions in order to achieve defined customer specifications, quality standards and delivery requirements. Select material from prime, miscellaneous and scrap inventory using aged inventory practices whenever possible. Designate prime coil use only after other sources of materials have been exhausted or as required through an analysis of alternatives in order to maximize material utilization, minimize scrap, excess production costs and machine down time, while ensuring customer satisfaction. Determine over shipment options in efffort to maximize coil use and reduce production of scrap. Using prescribed formula, perform material yield calculations, estimate scrap and restocks resulting from each layout. Prescribe machine operations necessary to produce order, pull inventory from stock. Consult with Metallurgist on new product process methodologies to ensure complete understanding of the same. List reduction requirements for rolling operations and detail furnace, slitting, skiving, inspection, packing and other operations from which schedulers will work. Review and combine orders for maximum utilization of materials and equipment. Enter related data and schedule information daily. Coordinate with scheduling and inventory control and perform re-layouts as requested to maximize material utilization and achieve delivery schedules. Notify Layout when material inventory reaches re-order levels; generate material requisitions as appropriate. Perform moderately complex calculations using calculator, charts and personal process knowledge in order to set layouts and achieve defined end product results. Refer unusual production requirements, schedule and equipment conflicts to Manager. Provide data, reports and other information as requested by Sales Department. Conduct intermittent operational audit to ensure that work is performed as designated in layout. Review and evaluate production, equipment, process and/or material modifications as required or requested by supervision. Regular attendance at work is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to perform moderately complex mathematical calculations including the use of all basic math concepts, calculation of percents, square footage, fraction and decimal conversion.
  • Knowledge of machine operation processes and general machining operations and terminology.
  • Minimum 3 years related material or production scheduling experience, preferably within manufacturing and/or metal processing environment.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to satisfy I-9 requirements
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and background check
  • Must be able to report to work in person in the office
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to balance changing priorities and demands.
