Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? Summary: Manufacturing Operator(s) will be required to learn basic manufacturing processes within their assigned business unit. The manufacturing operator will be required to demonstrate key proficiencies which are required to become a certified machine operator. Employees must be flexible with their shift schedule to complete required training. There may be times when training is conducted on non-preferred shifts. This position is designed to give individuals with little or no manufacturing experience the skills they need to become a Certified Operator at Pratt & Whitney. Employees selected for this position are required to successfully complete the customized training program conducted at AB Tech. In addition, the employee will complete all required on-the-job training at Pratt & Whitney. This is a 2nd Shift position: M-TH, 4:45 p.m. to 2:15 a.m.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program / contract
  • Strong computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret work instructions
  • Learn to set up and operate a variety of production equipment and measuring devices. Examples may include milling/grinding machines, furnaces, peening machines, part wash machines, coating machines, airflow/water flow machines, calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
  • Learn to work from operation sheets, work instructions, part travelers, and oral instruction to set up equipment within the assigned business unit, involving a limited number of surfaces to be machined.
  • Obtain operator certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
  • Learn to maintain machines by performing required total preventative maintenance (TPM).
  • Learn to work collaboratively with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel or others to resolve machining problems and assist in part process development (if applicable).
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives.
