Your Role The Manufacturing Operator 1 produces and purifies chemical compounds to meet the demands and requirements of MilliporeSigma customers. Responsibilities include the following: Execute chemical production and purification using vessels, tanks, and glassware to meet customer specifications Monitor and control chemical reactions by charging materials and utilizing laboratory equipment and distributed control systems Adhere to all SOPs, MPRs, and quality guidelines (cGMP, ISO) while maintaining accurate records following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) Operate material handling equipment like pallet mules to stage and destage materials and maintain inventory of consumable supplies Perform in-process analytical testing and routine preventative maintenance to ensure equipment and product integrity Ensure workplace safety and compliance by wearing PPE, following hazard labeling protocols, and neutralizing/disposing of hazardous waste and byproducts Utilize SAP applications for material movements and track personal training records to meet compliance standards Support Operational Excellence (OPEX) through participation in 6S initiatives and contributing to team production goals Troubleshoot and resolve daily production issues to minimize downtime and optimize packaging/production processes Communicate process status effectively via oral and written shift-change updates and coordinate with supervisors regarding resource needs Shift: 3rd, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM - Sun - Thu Physical Attributes: While performing job functions, employee will sit, stand, walk, reach above shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch or crawl for long periods of time Will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted May need to move more than 50 pounds with assistance Use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Regularly uses phones, computers, office equipment and laboratory equipment Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts Use of protective gear (hard hats, glass/goggles, chemical resistant suit/gloves, safety shoes) and other personal protection equipment (PPE) to protect from hazardous chemicals in the forms of liquids, solids, vapors or airborne particles The work area may occasionally be wet, humid, or abnormally hot or cold

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Comprehension of oral and written instructions
  • Communication skills – verbal and written
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem solving
  • Basic math skills, including using the metric system

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Chemistry or other Life Science discipline or 2+ years of college chemistry
  • Forklift experience
