About The Position

CNC Machine Tool Field Service Technician Location: Pekin, IL (Travel Required) Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Pay: $35 – $55 per hour (based on experience) Job Type: Full-Time What This Job Is Really About If you’re the go-to CNC expert who can walk into a shop, figure out what’s wrong, and get a machine back up and running—this is your role. You’ll be out in the field working directly with customers, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining CNC machines. This isn’t a sit-behind-a-desk job—you’ll be hands-on, solving real problems, and making a direct impact on production. What You’ll Be Doing Travel to customer sites to service CNC machines and equipment Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues Repair and replace components to get machines back up and running Perform machine installs, setups, and calibrations Work with controls and diagnose system faults Read prints, schematics, and technical manuals to track down issues Train operators or maintenance teams on proper machine use and basic upkeep Document service work and report findings Manage multiple service calls and prioritize jobs in the field What Your Day May Look Like Start your day heading to a customer site or reviewing your service schedule Arrive on-site and talk with the customer about the issue they’re having Jump into troubleshooting a CNC machine—could be electrical, mechanical, or controls-related Use diagnostic tools to track down the problem and make repairs Test the machine to make sure it’s fully operational before leaving Walk the customer through what was fixed and answer any questions Head to the next job or wrap up documentation from the day Occasionally stay overnight depending on travel needs

Requirements

  • 5+ years of CNC machine tool service or repair experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, prints, and manuals
  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools and precision measurement equipment
  • Strong communication skills—you’re comfortable working directly with customers
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule in the field
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced CNC systems or specialized equipment
  • Ability to train or mentor other technicians
  • Experience with remote diagnostics or advanced troubleshooting methods
