The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Arcola IL, is looking for a Manufacturing Lead to join our team. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, this position requires the employee to be able to work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with all Company safety rules. You must be able to recognize and identify colors and various material styles. This position requires excellent communication skills and must be able to work as a Team Player in a Team environment. As a team member of the department, you will be required to provide optimal production in the department. Flexibility is necessary to perform other functions as needed. This includes, but not limited to, inventory related activities, and cross-training opportunities in other departments. This position must be able to maintain a neat, clean, and orderly work area and maintain good housekeeping, and other duties as assigned. As we see it for right now, however, here are the challenges that we want you to tackle:

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Proficiency with Oracle, Excel, Word, and Email.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Will meet production and quality standards for this position.
  • Must have strong knowledge of all product lines.
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of production within the department.
  • Participate in communication meetings.
  • Must have adequate computer skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must be able to communicate with all customer service representatives daily.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to work all mandatory overtime.
  • Daily activity includes but is not limited to: Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
  • Reading, communication, simple math.
  • Standing on a fatigue mat in a specific area throughout a 10 hour+ shift.
  • Be able to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above moderate.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the daily activities of Manufacturing processes within designated department.
  • Assists in maintaining an uninterrupted flow of orders through the department.
  • Expedites rush and specialty orders to insure their timely delivery to the customer.
  • Makes sure all areas have adequate stock to fill orders.
  • Lead trainer for new employees, including seasonal warehouse processing staff.
  • Assumes responsibility of the department in the supervisor’s absence.
  • Assists in checking finished product quality to meet standards
  • Coordinates priority of orders to be completed.
