As a member of the department operating team, individual is responsible for performing job duties of the Roll Grind Shop processes and equipment while meeting safety and productivity objectives. You will have the opportunity to: Participates in the continuous improvement process by making suggestions to Supervisors and Leads. Ensures that all housekeeping requirements are met. Individual must perform to Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Procedures to maintain material flow to internal and external customers. Interprets blueprints, sketches, process drawings or other written or oral instructions to plan and determine working procedures. Selects proper material, tooling, and gauging equipment. Performs complex layout of material as required, including bearing housings, jig and fixture work, repair of jigs and fixture work, etc., working from drawings or process sheets. Operates machines to produce parts per blueprints or other instructions. Calculates angles, tapers and indexing moves. Selects and uses proper gauging and measuring instruments, including micrometers, verniers, calipers, gauge blocks, indicators, and other gauging equipment as needed. Determines dimensions and other measurements to ensure that quality has been maintained. Dye checks material, when required, to determine surface defects. Sharpens knives and cutters and periodically checks gauging equipment to maintain proper level of operation and quality of product. Adheres to EPA regulations pertaining to the proper disposal of hazardous waste.

Requirements

  • Individual must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have completed four years of industrial machine shop work as a Machinist or completed a Materion approved four-year apprentice program to skillfully operate and learn to operate machine tools, grinding machines & related equipment.
  • Individual must have set up and grinding knowledge for extremely close tolerance work.
  • Must be able to work independently or as a member of a team to meet demands.
  • Must possess basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office products and email.
  • Must have good verbal and written skills.
  • Must have knowledge of intermediate math skills.
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to provide customer service.
  • The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
  • Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on Materion’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with Materion’s business requirements.
