About The Position

As an Equipment Engineer, you will support the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of etch and clean process equipment within Photronics’ semiconductor manufacturing operations. This entry-level engineering role is ideal for early-career engineers looking to build hands-on experience in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. You will work closely with senior engineers, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Facilities, and Quality teams to support equipment uptime, troubleshooting, and process stability.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of engineering principles and semiconductor manufacturing concepts.
  • Interest or exposure to etch and clean processes preferred.
  • Basic understanding of data analysis, SPC, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to learn quickly, follow procedures, and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • 0–7 years of experience in equipment engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline) or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co-op, or academic project experience in a manufacturing or cleanroom environment is a plus.
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement concepts is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operation and maintenance of etch and clean process equipment to meet production, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Process Engineering teams to support yield improvement, defect reduction, and tool performance.
  • Support installation, qualification, and acceptance testing of new equipment and tool upgrades.
  • Help develop and maintain equipment documentation, work instructions, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Monitor equipment performance metrics and SPC data with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Follow cleanroom, safety, and environmental protocols at all times.
  • Participate in audits, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
