About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering will be responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by leading continuous improvement /cost-out initiatives across the organization while developing and maintaining robust manufacturing processes. Additional responsibility includes executing the organization's strategic plan consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, established industry standards, and customer requirements. The candidate needs to be able to think outside the box, encompassing lean and manufacturing engineering principles, day in and day out.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. Candidates graduating in December 2025 will be considered.
  • One (1) year of manufacturing experience is required.
  • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing: Proficient in value stream mapping, one-piece flow, 5S, standard work, visual controls, daily accountability, and process checks.
  • Advanced Problem-Solving Skills: Skilled in root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies including thought maps, 8D, PFMEA, control charts, and Pareto analysis.
  • Laser Cutting Proficiency: Hands-on experience with flat steel laser cutting and fiber laser technologies.
  • Software & Technical Tools: Proficient in SAP, CAD/CAM systems, MS Office Suite, MiniTab, Metamation, and nesting software.
  • Quality Systems Knowledge: Familiar with industry and customer-specific quality standards such as ISO 9001.
  • Production Environment Acumen: Deep understanding of both low volume/high mix and high volume/low mix manufacturing settings, including safety and guarding requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, trains, and guides the optimal design and layout of cells and manufacturing flow lines considering safety/guarding, productivity, ergonomics, first pass yield, process and test capabilities, machine uptime and machine efficiency, cost of non-conformance, inventory, and waste.
  • Creates and maintains standardized work elements (Balance charts, layouts, etc) to ensure all safety requirements are met and processes operate with their defined specifications.
  • Leads the research and development of new processes to meet or exceed the requirements of current/new products. Heavy focus on leading cost-out initiatives and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Leads teams that leverage Lean and/or Six Sigma tools to solve problems within manufacturing. Drives initiatives to closure and monitors/drives associated metrics.
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement of Kaizens/BPIs as appropriate to the facility.
  • Evaluates a value stream and establish clear visual controls indicating process health and capture sources of variation that drive accountability in Continuous Improvement actions/process improvements.
  • Identifies potential safety hazards and provides input into the remediation process, ensuring equipment functionality meets required specifications.
  • Enforces safety expectations, documents, and communicates hazards and unsafe conditions, and conducts training to team members on safety regulations and methods
  • Performs root cause and failure analysis for the resolution of production detractors. Collaborates with others in critical thinking and problem-solving activities.
  • Participates in concurrent engineering efforts and critical design reviews to minimize product costs and maximize the useful life of products.
  • Supports new product development projects to ensure design for manufacturability
  • Works on projects in conjunction with the Ops and OPEX manager for fab/weld, core & coils value streams, develop project goals, budgets, and work breakdown structures.
  • Develops and executes communication plans among project/program working groups, associated leadership teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for executing sustained change management as it applies to products and processes within manufacturing operations.
  • Provides input into the capital equipment selection process. Develops and evaluates Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) for new product or process programs and initiatives.
