About The Position

As Manufacturing Engineering Technician, you will support the manufacturing engineering team by assisting in the design, development, testing, and improvement of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems. This role ensures efficient production operations, maintains quality standards, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts on the shop floor.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred; or three to four years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in maintaining custom automation equipment.
  • A strong technical understanding of automated equipment engineering with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge and application of machining practices and how part tolerances affect machining requirements and cost.
  • Knowledge of material properties (machinability, heat treatment, corrosion resistance, etc.).
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot industrial mechanical devices (pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, conveyors, belt drives, chain drives, presses).
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot industrial electrical/electronic control devices/sensors (relays, transformers, PLCs, circuits, etc.) Allen‑Bradley and/or Mitsubishi PLC / HMI experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and electrical codes.
  • Ability to develop design concepts into functional engineering models and drawings.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
  • Understanding of drafting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of production equipment.
  • Serve as the first point of contact to assist Plant Maintenance in identifying equipment-related root causes and direct Plant Maintenance in correcting identified issues.
  • Provide start-up assistance with automated manufacturing equipment to Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and Production.
  • Actively contribute to problem-solving discussions supporting both tactical and strategic plant needs.
  • Conduct basic research and development on mechanical/electrical systems to provide optimum efficiency for manufacturing equipment or processes.
  • Assist in developing scope of projects, conceptualizing solutions, and procuring budgetary quotes.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as electrical schematics, machine BOMs, spare parts lists, process instructions, standard operating procedures, and maintenance procedures.
  • Create new drawings/models or modify existing drawings/models in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Make basic modifications to PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, and mechanical systems.
  • Work in the machine shop using tools such as mills, lathes, and welding equipment.
  • Fabricate components, requisition parts, assemble, and finalize a functional unit.
