Wieland is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Technician II . The Manufacturing Engineering Technician II will be responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing CNC programs for lathes, mills, and multitasking machines. This includes ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of CNC programs through validation, while also focusing on improving cycle times, product quality, and tooling effectiveness. Additionally, the role contributes to continuous process improvements by refining existing programs to drive operational efficiency. This role is located in Lake Zurich, IL and will be fully on-site. Starting Pay: $32 - $48 per hour Schedule: Monday - Friday, flexible 8.5 hour shift Pay Schedule: Weekly This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”), and the ability to access and handle ITAR “Technical Data” as defined by 22 CFR § 120.33 is an essential function.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in manufacturing engineering technology or a related field, with seven years of experience in CNC programming and setup, or alternatively, ten years of experience in CNC programming and setup.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MasterCAM software or equivalent.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Mill Turning programming.
  • Basic proficiency in SolidWorks engineering software or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, with a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Skilled in using and reading measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial bore gages, groove gages, height gages, and other precision instruments to ensure products meet blueprint specifications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Ability to convey information clearly and professionally in written communication, including email correspondence.
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Able to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Create CNC programs for lathes, mills, and multitasking machines in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Set up and validation of new programs for new parts and revisions to existing parts.
  • Optimize existing CNC programs to enhance plant performance, focusing on key improvement areas such as product quality, cycle time, and tooling efficiency.
  • Provide support to production staff by troubleshooting CNC programs and setups.
  • Lead or participate in Root Cause Analysis as needed to identify and address process or equipment issues.
  • Prepare tooling requests for new or modified products to ensure proper implementation.
  • Update Bills of Material (BOMs) and Bills of Operations (BOOs) as necessary to reflect accurate information.
  • Stay current with advancements in manufacturing and machining technologies and processes.
  • Uphold and exemplify Wieland’s values, setting a positive example for the production team.
