Our products include electron multipliers, filaments, syringes, pumps, and valves. Work Environment: This role is based on-site at our Palmer, MA location. Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead process development and continuous improvement initiatives for life science equipment manufacturing. This role oversees high-precision assemblies including pumps, valves, motors, and glass syringes, and plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for innovation in regulated environments.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers, process engineers, and technicians.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes for complex mechanical and glass-based assemblies.
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and PPI/DBS methodologies to improve yield, reduce scrap, and enhance efficiency.
  • Drive automation and smart manufacturing initiatives.
  • Partner with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and Production teams to align engineering solutions with business goals.
  • Support new product introductions and scale-up activities.
  • Ensure adherence to FDA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and GMP standards.
  • Champion safety initiatives and ergonomic improvements across production lines.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement robust process controls, documentation, and validation protocols.
  • Recommend, initiate, and manage capital projects to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and glass fabrication processes.
  • Strong understanding of machining, assembly, and inspection of precision components.
  • Experience in life science, medical device, pharmaceutical, or analytical instrumentation manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing systems and robotics.
  • Familiarity with ERP (e.g., SAP) and MES systems.
  • Knowledge of FDA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and GMP regulatory frameworks.
  • Certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, or CQE.
