As a Manufacturing Engineering Lead at Terex, based in Huron, SD, you'll play a pivotal role in leading a team of skilled engineers through supporting manufacturing process improvements, supporting problem solving of day to day manufacturing, and spearheading automation initiatives across welding, machining, and assembly operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience programming and supporting industrial robots (preferred in welding, machining, or assembly).
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated problem solving thru manufacturing processes: welding, fabrication, machining, hydraulics, etc.
  • Experience with CAD and engineering software tools (MS Project, Visio, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead projects, justify capital investments, and deliver measurable results.
  • Lean and continuous improvement expertise.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean and welding certifications.
  • Automation, CNC, or PLC programming knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team collaboration and training.

Responsibilities

  • Guide small engineering team, mentor engineers and technicians, and model best practices in lean problem-solving.
  • Design, build, program, and refine robotic systems that elevate welding, machining, and assembly processes.
  • Ensure smooth integration of robotic and automation systems with mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • Manage automation deployments, process improvements, and capital projects from scope through implementation.
  • Partner with operations, design engineering, and manufacturing staff to scale automation solutions.
  • Research and deploy emerging robotics, AI, and automation technologies to keep us competitive and efficient.
  • Maintain alignment with safety, regulatory, and industry standards (ISO, ANSI, OSHA).
  • Develop technical documentation and train teams on automation best practices.
