About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Summer Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The selected candidate will work closely with our engineering team to support continuous improvement initiatives, participate in Kaizen events, and lead smaller scale manufacturing projects.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus.
  • Previous experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable with a strong desire to learn and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing Kaizen events to drive productivity, efficiency, and quality improvements.
  • Conduct time studies, process mapping, and data analysis to identify root causes of inefficiencies and develop actionable solutions.
  • Design and implement visual management tools, standard work instructions, and process controls to sustain improvements.
  • Lead smaller scale manufacturing projects from concept to completion, including project planning, resource allocation, and timeline management.
  • Utilize Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance overall operational performance.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, present findings, and provide regular updates on project status and key performance indicators.
  • Document project outcomes, lessons learned, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements in all activities.
