About The Position

Panasonic Energy is seeking ambitious engineering interns to join the world's largest lithium ion battery initiative. With superior battery designs and the fastest manufacturing lines in the world, Panasonic is producing millions of batteries per day at the Gigafactory to support Tesla's electric vehicle and energy storage businesses. At Panasonic Energy, engineering interns quickly become experts in the fundamentals of lithium-ion cell technology and work to integrate that understanding with high speed, automated manufacturing methods to produce the highest performance and highest quality lithium ion batteries.

Requirements

  • Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 2 years at an accredited university.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis at the time the internship begins and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status.

  • Hands-on experience through project teams or previous jobs.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts battery cell manufacturing process improvement for mass production lines.
  • Conducts design and testing work for existing production lines to improve cell manufacturing process on safety, quality and productivity.
  • Analyzes and evaluates machine and test data.
  • Analyzes operating procedures and functions of equipment and machinery to reduce time and cost of manufacturing processes.
  • Provides engineering support to production teams to resolve manufacturing process issues.
  • Works closely with other team members to increase understanding of failure modes and improve performance of cell manufacturing equipment.
  • Applies principles and knowledge of engineering to solve manufacturing problems.
