About The Position

Kearfott Corporation, a leader in the design and manufacture of precision motion control products and inertial navigation components, is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for its Pine Brook, NJ location. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic, people-focused environment alongside experienced technicians, engineers, and scientists to enhance their skills and develop confidence in their capabilities. Interns will assist in the manufacture of inertial navigation systems and opto-mechanical sensors, contributing to various engineering solutions and technical investigations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills.
  • GPA of 3.2 or above preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Optics, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other similar engineering or scientific majors.
  • Knowledgeable in software programming, database development, SolidWorks 3D CAD, lasers and free-space optics, fiber optics, lean six-sigma manufacturing, materials science, chemical process engineering, optical fabrication.
  • Completed at least sophomore year of college/university.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • General knowledge and understanding of mathematical modeling and analysis methods.
  • Programming skills in EXCEL, LabVIEW, MathCad, MATLAB, Simulink, C++, or equivalent.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Help in the coordination and development of engineering solutions.
  • Research and determine requirements for components and systems.
  • Derive technical data from test data and analysis.
  • Defend engineering solutions during internal reviews.
  • Conduct trade studies, project planning, and system modeling.
  • Review technical and management data and perform performance assessments.
  • Identify problems and plan corrective actions.
  • Work with engineering teams to evaluate changes in system requirements and designs.
  • Support design trade studies evaluating cost and effectiveness.
  • Help develop computer codes to evaluate mathematical models.
  • Develop graphics displaying results of analyses.
  • Support reports and briefings describing results and significance of analyses performed.
  • Support definition, design, and development of system requirements.
  • Assess current system architecture and limitations.
  • Support technical investigations in systems design.

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $20.00 - $30.00 based on experience and qualifications.
  • Full-time internship (40 hours per week) for a minimum of 10 weeks.
