About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Internship is a paid, full-time, summer position where the intern is considered a team member who will learn and contribute during the assignment. Apply your technical knowledge, creativity, and passion to drive improvements in a manufacturing environment. This position will provide a broad exposure to both business and manufacturing processes required to successfully support products in a low and high-volume environment. Potential learning opportunities include active production support, deployment of lean manufacturing methodologies, product and process improvements, MES (Manufacturing Execution System) updates and equipment repair and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college/university program focusing on manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering, with 2-3 years of college level courses completed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform time studies and maintain manufacturing instructions, initiating change requests, and uploading information into the ERP.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste, cost, and defects in Production, repair station, and in business processes.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers in maintaining methods, work instructions, and operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
  • Oversee a variety of complex operations and duties in a production area including ordering of materials, building benches, assisting with safety requests, etc.
  • Clear minor equipment difficulties and assist or perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Respond to issues on the production floor, assisting with basic concerns following set processes and procedures, escalating to others when needed.
  • Prepare process and status reports, and revise and maintain documents for accuracy and completeness, ensuring documents meet company standards.
