Within Manufacturing Engineering, the Engineering Design Support Team provides support to external suppliers by answering their questions related to product requirement drawings across all Raytheon sensors and select effectors teams. We seek a Manufacturing Engineer for a remote opportunity within the Engineering Design Support Team. The Engineering Design Support Team works primarily with Raytheon's supplier base to safely resolve design issues, ensuring quality parts are delivered on time. The Engineering Design Support team collaborates with a wide scope of disciplines, including but not limited to, program engineering, supply chain, quality, sales, and engineering at other companies. Daily work is fast paced, challenging, and rewarding. This job is well suited for engineering professionals desiring exposure to a wide range of commodities.

  • Real-time technical support with manufacturers to ensure design requirements are clear and correct.
  • Troubleshooting drawing issues involving materials, paints and finishes, welding and brazing, GD&T, marking, and testing as they pertain to different commodities.
  • Daily interfacing with Raytheon subject matter experts and responsible engineers as required.
  • Communicating technical issues across functional areas and documenting technical details.
  • In-person meetings with Raytheon engineers and external manufacturers at local facilities.
  • Encourage Raytheon's supplier base to engage with our team at the earliest possible phase of production.
  • Define the appropriate Universal Commodity Code (UCC) to accurately categorize parts for procurement.
  • Create Supplier Change Request Notification (SCRN) records within cPDM for program review.
  • Assist and mentor teammates.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience is as follows (in any combination) Manufacturing or mechanical design or drafting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Analyzing and/or coding / writing 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ProE, CREO.
  • Preferred degrees: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Chemical or Electrical.
  • Technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Organizational skills with fine attention to detail and multitasking capabilities.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Innovative mindset that drives continuous improvement and keeps pace with advances in technology.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply lean principles and techniques (Six Sigma, CORE).
  • Active DoD security clearance (confidential, secret).
