About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for new process development, capital equipment procurement, and driving continuous improvement in current processes relative to company Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics. This role involves participating in the development of manufacturing strategy, conceptualizing and specifying equipment and tooling, planning and leading projects, supporting new product introductions, and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment/process issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or extensive equivalent practical experience.
  • Five or more years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting metal fabrication &/or 25T – 800T press (blanking, piercing, coining) processes and associated tooling, dies, automation, etc.
  • Three or more years of project management experience.
  • Experience with Industrial Controls and strong familiarity with automation.
  • Experience in the acquisition and installation of new equipment and processes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Cost estimation and quote development experience.
  • Experience with 3D solid modeling software, preferably SolidWorks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with metals, stamping industry, and assembly.
  • Experience with programming robotics, PLC’s, and CNC’s.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma tools and 8D problem solving techniques.
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) techniques.
  • Detailed knowledge of drawing techniques and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of manufacturing strategy within areas of responsibility.
  • Equipment & Tooling conceptualization, specification, installation, and qualification.
  • Plan and lead projects from cradle to grave.
  • Support new product introductions through Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Estimate staffing requirements, production cycle times, costs, and capacity to provide data for operational decisions.
  • Day-to-day project management including the planning, scheduling, and coordination of work activities.
  • Create drawings directly or through others.
  • Create and maintain process documentation.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment/process issues.
  • Lead formal problem-solving initiatives leveraging 8D methodology.
  • Serve as in-house expert on metal forming processes.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to peers and operators to help them develop their knowledge and solve problems.
