About The Position

Sigma Design has collaborated with a technology manufacturing company seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their facility in Redmond. Our client is a global leader in advanced perception solutions for autonomy and mobility, with more than three decades of experience driving innovation at the intersection of hardware and software. Their engineering teams are recognized for deep expertise in laser-based sensing, solid-state sensor technologies, and perception software, delivering high-performance solutions across industries including automotive and trucking, warehousing and logistics, agriculture, mining and construction, robotics, automation, and defense. This position is contract with an expected duration of 6 months This role is In-Office The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in developing, qualifying, and sustaining production processes for advanced electro-mechanical products. This position collaborates cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and operations teams to transition new products into manufacturing, establish robust assembly methods, and drive continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle. The role emphasizes process ownership, technical problem-solving, and ensuring manufacturing systems remain stable, scalable, and capable of meeting quality and throughput objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, including hands-on process development and production support
  • At least 3 years of experience working with precision electro-mechanical or opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Demonstrated experience supporting factory operations and transitioning products from development into manufacturing
  • Strong background in process development, qualification, and continuous improvement
  • Experience with failure analysis, root cause determination, and structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis tools and techniques such as DOE, SPC, and GR&R
  • Familiarity with precision assembly processes such as optical alignment, adhesive bonding, and automated assembly methods
  • Ability to review and interpret 3D CAD models for manufacturability; experience with SolidWorks or similar platforms preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills with the ability to drive technical solutions across teams
  • Willingness to provide onsite support at manufacturing locations or equipment vendors as required
  • ITAR - Permanent resident of the United States (“U.S. person” as defined by ITAR)
  • Background - Pass a post-offer background verification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, qualification, and implementation of assembly processes for new product introductions
  • Own and maintain manufacturing methods, tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support production readiness and efficiency
  • Monitor production processes to ensure they remain in control; identify risks and implement corrective or preventive actions
  • Drive failure analysis and root cause investigations related to production defects or yield challenges
  • Partner with design, quality, and operations teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth product launches
  • Develop and refine procedures for complex assemblies, including precision alignment, bonding, and mechanical integration
  • Apply statistical and analytical methods to evaluate process capability and recommend improvements
  • Support automation initiatives and evaluate opportunities to improve repeatability, throughput, and cost
  • Provide hands-on technical support to factory operations and external equipment vendors as needed
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts across the manufacturing lifecycle, from pre-production through full-scale production
  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences
