About The Position

Plan, develop, improve, and support existing assembly processes, including the investigation and evaluation of new processes. Identify equipment and tooling problems/concerns and develop countermeasures. The focus of this position is to support Production Associates and Team Leaders by helping to identify and remove waste (non value-added activity) from the value stream. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This position will work closely with Production Team Leaders and other plant personnel to implement Lean Manufacturing projects to improve manufacturing efficiency/quality. Works as a part of a cross-functional team to review proposed manufacturing process and bring new products to production. Develops robust manufacturing processes to produce the product in the most efficient way possible. Evaluates and updates tooling and work stations. Works closely with the Product Engineering Department on major design changes and new product development. Coordinates technical activities with suppliers when introducing new purchased components and improving existing components. Reviews quotes for manufacturing feasibility and makes design recommendations. Works with Product Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations to implement internal product improvements, cost saving opportunities, etc. Manages change process at the manufacturing level (MCN-Manufacturing Change Notice) Has an active role in Lean Manufacturing activities that drive continuous improvement programs throughout the facility. Seeks out and learns about new technologies, evaluates uses of these technologies to help improve our products and processes. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Effectively analyzes equipment needs and prepares thorough justification for Capital Equipment. Documents product designs and processes, applies for patents when applicable. Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Possess a working knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, assembly processes, and related technologies.
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing techniques including Material Process/Kanban, Standard Work, and SMED.
  • A.S. in an Engineering discipline with mechanical aptitude required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Manufacturing/Process Engineer

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline preferred
  • PLC programming & troubleshooting skills
  • Tooling Development/Improvement experience
  • Proficient in the use of Autocad/SolidWorks (preferable)
  • Experience working in an ISO-9001-2015 environment
  • This position requires occasional travel.
  • The employee must be able to fly or drive out of town to attend meetings with customers and suppliers or attend training.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and to stand 75% of the day.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
