About The Position

Develops and improves manufacturing processes at a Contract Manufacturing location by studying the product and manufacturing methods. Job Duties: Applies engineering principles, concepts, practices and standards to complete a variety of on-going assignments and projects. Partners with others to evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators prior to making recommendations to management. Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. Exercises judgement and independently works to improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout in cooperation with the Contract Manufacturer. Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. Provides manufacturing decision-making information to management for review by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements. Works on problems of moderate scope and prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Works under the general direction of the Manufacturing and Quality Engineering Director and contributes to the team by supporting process engineering and quality engineering objectives as defined in the annual planning process and supports the overall business strategy. Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests within the Supply Chain and Manufacturing group. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government and safety regulations. Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance, repair services and spare part supply to CM’s. Designs jigs and fixtures as needed to improve processes, increase safety or to support implementation of new testers or processes. Maintains product and process data base and enters and analyzes data resulting in regular metrics reporting. Manages 2-3 projects simultaneously with moderate scope and complexity. Maintains and develops professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
