As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for improving products, processes, and components to meet customer and system performance requirements. You will play a key role throughout the product lifecycle ensuring manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost effectiveness. Support customer returns by leading failure investigations, determining root causes, developing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), directing the work of production technicians, generating quotes and dispositions, and authoring customer-facing technical reports. Actively participate in the release of new product introductions (NPI). Support product tooling and process designs to ensure reliable manufacturability Support, implement, and update optics products’ assembly and test procedures while continuously making relevant improvements Develop on-the-job expertise to troubleshoot and resolve interferometer product issues Resolve production issues related to final assembly and test of interferometer products. Develop new and update existing manufacturing procedures in collaboration with technical writers (address return-driven preventive actions, production feedback, change requests, and tooling improvements) Lead production test station upgrades including: hardware design support, coordination of software updates, and qualification of new or modified test methods. Support second-source developments and qualifications Develop, review, and provide technical feedback for engineering change orders affecting interferometer product BOMs, drawings, procedures, and other related documentation. Drive cost-reduction initiatives while establishing robust process controls to consistently deliver high-quality products to customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Optical Sciences, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 2-5 years of experience working in manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communicator who collaborates effectively across functions and supports technical discussions with data and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and work independently to develop ideas and translate new concepts into practical, results-driven solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing Engineer II / Mid Level
  • Independently applies engineering judgment to improve products, processes, and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Experience with translating interferometer product requirements to optical component specifications and optical assembly techniques.
  • Working knowledge of geometrical optics, opto‑mechanical, and kinematic design principles.
  • Hands‑on experience in one or more of the following: Precision opto‑mechanical manufacturing Optics assembly and test Optics, lasers, and fiber‑optics industry standards
  • Familiarity with structured problem‑solving methodologies and quality systems (e.g., CAPA, 5 Why’s, 8D, Six Sigma).
