Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience can be academic exposure - B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of Lean principles/methods including Value Stream Maps, 5S, Kaizen, Statistical Process Control, etc.
  • Must be able to apply root cause analysis and problem-solving tools.
  • Must be a self-directed, “hands-on”, problem-solver with the ability to multi-task several projects and maintain high quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Must have strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to effectively communicate with all areas of the organization.
  • Capable of interpreting product engineering specifications, drawings, manufacturing work instructions, shop work orders and associated manufacturing process documentation.
  • Computer skills as required to perform all functions of position including fluency in Microsoft Office.
  • Achieved or have ability to achieve LSS Green Belt certification within 6 months, and to achieve LSS Black Belt certification within 2 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Other preferred software skills are CAD, Modeling and Simulation and Visual Basic

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts in the plant in terms of safety, quality, cost and delivery.
  • Develop value stream maps, standard work/process sheets, routings, capacity analysis, and line layouts to assist continuous improvement efforts.
  • Utilize Lean Six-Sigma concepts to eliminate waste, reduce process variation, increase production throughput, and improve material flow and part availability.
  • Conduct and participate in Kaizen events and train line workers to drive Lean principles like Kanban and one-piece flow.
  • Assist in tooling and fixture design, fabrication, and installation, to ensure quality specifications and drive process improvement.
  • Provide input to process optimization through capital equipment justification and acquisition and introduction of new technologies into existing processes.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support to new product introductions using the aforementioned tools/methods.
  • Participate proactively in cross-functional teams
  • Lead goal-focused teams, often several different teams simultaneously
  • Performs other related duties as required.
