About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes, systems, and equipment to support the efficient, safe, and cost-effective production of high-quality products. This role serves as a key link between engineering design and manufacturing operations, ensuring product designs are effectively translated into reliable and scalable production processes. The Manufacturing Engineer supports new product introductions, resolves production and quality issues, and leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, process capability, and overall operational performance. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams—including engineering, quality, operations, maintenance, and suppliers, the Manufacturing Engineer ensures manufacturing processes meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements while aligning with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, production systems, and industrial equipment.
  • Experience developing and maintaining manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, SOPs, Control Plans, and PFMEAs.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions and process validation activities.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, process control, and inspection methods.
  • Understanding of workplace safety requirements and OSHA regulations.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and with external suppliers.
  • Proficiency with standard engineering and manufacturing software tools (e.g., CAD, ERP, MES, or similar systems).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume, regulated, or complex manufacturing environment (e.g., automotive, aerospace, medical devices, or electronics).
  • Hands-on experience with automation, robotics, or collaborative automation systems.
  • Demonstrated success leading Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and waste reduction projects.
  • Experience with tooling and fixture design, cutting tool selection, and machining processes.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), Six Sigma methodologies, and data-driven quality improvement.
  • Familiarity with capital equipment projects, including business case development, installation, and commissioning.
  • Experience working with suppliers on technical development, cost reduction, or process improvements.
  • Proficiency with advanced CAD, simulation, or manufacturing analysis tools.
  • Professional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE), or equivalent.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor technicians or junior engineers and influence cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, tool lists, inspection guides, Control Plans, and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as Kaizen events, 5S improvements, and waste-reduction projects.
  • Apply creative problem-solving to address operational challenges including ergonomics, safety, efficiency, process bottlenecks, and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop and manage manufacturing projects, ensuring cost-effective and efficient production systems.
  • Provide technical manufacturing support related to process control and internal certification requirements.
  • Monitor and improve equipment reliability by identifying problem areas, performing root cause analysis, and serving as the technical expert for assigned value streams.
  • Ensure compliance with all manufacturing standards, internal procedures, safety requirements, and OSHA regulations.
