About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer primarily supports sustaining activities in the current production process with an emphasis on safety and equipment performance while also supporting the work related to scaling current manufacturing and development of new manufacturing methods based on the needs of the business. The Manufacturing Engineer will capture the needs of internal customers and will develop solutions that include defining the process, layouts and specification of equipment, and make recommendations for the technical selection of purchased equipment. They will support project management relating to the build, delivery, and installation of equipment to ensure the equipment is commissioned on-time and on-budget. The Manufacturing Engineer also ensures the equipment performs reliably. Manufacturing Engineers will employ lean manufacturing principles to optimize effectiveness of our manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline
  • CAD / CAM experience
  • Advanced Excel
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be in possession of, or able to obtain, a valid United States passport
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Demonstrated ability to lift, carry and/or move up to 50 lbs. continuously during entire 8 – 11.5 hour shift
  • Demonstrated ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs. continuously during entire 8 – 11.5 hour shift
  • Demonstrated ability to bend, stoop and reach repetitively during 8 – 11.5 hour shift
  • Ability to work in a production environment, e.g. noise levels, pace, chemical fumes, etc
  • Be able to manipulate materials with hands and take apart sample items to make sure they are manufactured properly

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years experience working in manufacturing engineering or related field
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma is desirable
  • SQL
  • Machine capability testing
  • Knowledge of Engineering systems & concepts such as TPM & OEE, IOT, SPC, TAKT Time, Standard work , Automation, FMEA & Control and Descriptive Statistics

Responsibilities

  • Support production to meet capability goals of new and existing equipment and methods
  • Support the Maintenance Team with root cause analysis
  • Create and update standards for operations on new equipment including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documentation and Standard Work documentation
  • Participate in capacity and Capital Expenditure (CapEx) planning for given production processes
  • Support project management initiatives including scoping, planning, and execution.
  • Support equipment installation and commissioning process, working with outside vendors and onsite support
  • Contractor management and create/maintain vendor relationships
  • Determine and support equipment layout for safety and to optimize product flow
  • Employ Lean Manufacturing Methods
  • Utilize equipment downtime reporting to address chronic downtime initiatives
  • Perform and support user acceptance testing (UAT) onsite at production facility
  • Position may require occasional travel, including internationally, to other BuildASign/Cimpress manufacturing facilities
