About The Position

A Manufacturing Engineer at Neogen Corporation leads initiatives for the daily support of products, processes, and equipment and may be responsible for leading the integration of new products within production, meeting new product integration timelines and production goals (i.e., safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity). This individual will be required to routinely partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate, troubleshoot and implement manufacturing processes within the business unit. This role is currently located in Brookings, South Dakota, but will be relocating to Lansing in the next few years. Neogen protects the world’s food supply through a variety of animal healthcare products and food safety solutions for dangerous bacteria, allergens, toxins, drug residues and much more. Neogen has a record of sustained growth and development and acquisition of advanced technology since its founding in 1982.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Biochemical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering)
  • 4+ years of related experience OR combination of both education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of/experience with manufacturing problem solving and process interrogation tools such as Six Sigma, and production flow tools such as LEAN manufacturing

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year manufacturing / process engineering experience in rotary converting and/or automated assembly
  • 1 to 2 years of experience with capital project management and justification
  • 1 to 2 years of AutoCAD and Solidworks design
  • SAP experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Works cooperatively with R&D, Process Development, Quality, Production, Regulatory, Equipment Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure project success
  • Successfully contributes to both new product development teams and product support, including the following activities: process capability studies, process development, Six Sigma and Value Improvement projects, report preparation and process/test documentation
  • Designs and coordinates standard engineering tests and experiments
  • Designs, procures, and fabricates equipment tooling and fixtures
  • Characterizes the physical and material properties of the components, and optimizes these properties against device performance requirements
  • Performs troubleshooting on new and existing products/process problems as related to design, material, or processes
  • Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results
  • Completes and manages Capital Equipment Request Authorizations
  • Prepares standard reports/documents to communicate results to the technical community
  • May lead cross-functional project teams
  • Identifies, implements, and manages equipment requirements to support production goals
