About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and optimizes the manufacturing processes and equipment used to build our particle characterization instruments. This hands-on role supports production teams in the assembly of scientific instruments while leading process development for new product introductions. Working closely with production, quality, purchasing, and R&D, the Manufacturing Engineer resolves assembly issues, improves quality and efficiency, and ensures compliance with regulatory and internal standards. This role is empowered to streamline processes, reduce waste, and drive innovation within our manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Knowledge and experience designing mechanical and/or electrical systems for new products.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and systems.
  • Engineer-level mechanical knowledge of machining, tools, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Design knowledge and techniques used to produce precise drawings, blueprints, and technical models.
  • Proficiency using CAD/computer-aided drafting software (Solidworks).
  • Knowledge of international management standards, including quality control standards (ISO 9001) and environmental health and safety standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Training in areas related to mechatronics, electronics, and mechanical engineering.

  • Set up and monitor production equipment to allow the team to work safely and efficiently.
  • Designs and implements assembly fixtures.
  • Analyze performance measures tied to production efficiency and quality.
  • Develop and improve production line layouts.
  • Create work instructions required to effectively assemble and test instruments.
  • Organizes and maintains tools and production items. Identifies process improvements, automating tasks, and test automation.
  • Provide support to production departments for day-to-day assembly issues.
  • Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing processes (5S, one piece flow, Kaizen) within assigned areas.
  • Support new product introductions to ensure smooth transition from prototype to production builds.
  • Collaborate with R&D group to provide manufacturability guidance during the prototype development of new products.
  • Provide technical support for first article inspections for new parts or new vendors.
  • Provide technical guidance to outside vendors and contractors fabricating parts and subassemblies. Assist in the review and analysis of part quality issues that impact production.
  • Identify and implement design changes to parts to improve performance.
