In this role, the Manufacturing Engineer, supports day-to-day manufacturing operations with a strong focus on printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing support activities. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role that performs troubleshooting, data collection, documentation updates, and process support activities under established procedures and the direction of engineering and operations leadership in a manufacturing and lab environment. The Manufacturing Engineer works under the direction of Operations, Engineering, Quality, and / or Supply Chain leadership to improve yield, throughput, and product quality while supporting new and existing products.

Requirements

Due to the nature of UEI’s programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.
3+ years of experience supporting manufacturing engineering, test engineering, integration, or industrial operations.
2+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic assemblies.
2+ years of experience with PCB assembly processes including surface-mount and through-hole technologies.
2+ years of experience supporting Lean manufacturing, FMEA, DFMA, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Experience supporting operations involving data acquisition, simulation, and embedded control applications.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in a technical discipline. Equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
Comfortable performing direct troubleshooting and investigation of electronic assemblies in a manufacturing or lab environment.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and follow direction in a fast-paced, small company environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Understanding of ADC / DAC and digital processor circuitry.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, test requirements, and technical specifications.
Familiarity with J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and documentation requirements.
Experience supporting PCB troubleshooting, failure analysis, or corrective action activities.
Lean, Six Sigma, or PCB manufacturing training or certifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

Collect, analyze, and document manufacturing, test, and quality data for review by engineering and management teams.
Support continuous improvement activities by assisting with data gathering, observations, and implementation of defined Lean initiatives.
Perform hands‑on troubleshooting, debug, diagnosis, and repair of electronic assemblies, PCBAs, and electro‑mechanical systems in accordance with established procedures.
Assist with investigation of electrical, functional, and intermittent PCB‑related issues and support root cause and corrective action efforts under direction.
Communicate production, test, and quality issues to engineering teams and assist with documentation of findings.
Draft, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and related manufacturing documentation based on requirements.
Support the implementation, verification, and documentation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and approved process changes.
Assist with customer complaints, RMAs, corrective and preventive actions and related investigations as directed.
Support evaluations of existing processes, layouts, tooling, and test methods used in manufacturing and troubleshooting activities.
Assist with identification and setup of tooling, fixtures, test equipment, and inspection methods used in manufacturing and troubleshooting activities.
Collect and maintain defined metrics for yield, throughput, process control, and product performance.
Support production scheduling discussions by providing status updates and clarifying assigned priorities.
Partner with Purchasing and Planning to support material, routing, or process updates as directed.
Support design reviews, process reviews, and production readiness activities by preparing data, documentation, and test results.
Train and support operations staff by following established training materials and work instructions.
Communicate technical information, issues, and status updates to engineering, manufacturing, and management teams.
Provide regular status updates, risks, and performance metrics to management.
Escalate complex technical issues, non-standard conditions, or process deviations to appropriate personnel.
Perform additional duties as assigned in support of operations and continuous improvement efforts.
