About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. As a Manufacturing Engineer supporting the machine shop, you will be responsible for work order planning/authoring and maintenance surrounding Amazon Leo's machining processes. You will work closely with multiple engineering teams on both early hardware development and setting the stage for production hardware machining processes. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast paced, start-up like environment. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while showing the highest standards of execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent
  • 1+ year(s) working in aerospace or aviation metallic manufacturing processes
  • Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, InfoPath, SharePoint, etc.
  • Understanding of CNC machining and CMM inspection processes
  • Experience working in SAP ME/ERP or equivalent software
  • Experience working in AS9100 compliant QMS systems
  • Understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009)
  • CAD experience, (NX/Catia/Autocad)
  • Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain shop work orders in Manufacturing Execution and ERP software.
  • Interrogate CAD models and 2D technical drawings for manufacturing dimensions and requirements.
  • Interface with purchasing group and NC programming group to prioritize, forecast and report load for the machine shop.
  • Ensure all manufacturing steps are defined and planned for in ME software in order to furnish complete aerospace detail parts.
  • Understand and update as needed, process steps for manufacturing tight tolerance, metallic aerospace parts.
  • Communicate with purchasing group to ensure compliance with manufacturing and scheduling requirements.

  • Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $86,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
