About The Position

The Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) program is one of Lockheed Martin’s outstanding programs that prioritizes partnership, integrity, and reliability. Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL to support LRHW Program Production Operations (Prod Ops). The selected candidate will have the opportunity to support electro/mechanical structure assembly, integration and test (AI&T) operations. This position may require some travel and support to other manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Support the team for shop floor support, maintaining manufacturing plans, tooling requirements, engineering change implementation and coordinating changes in the build process within an electrical/mechanical manufacturing facility. Leading the technical team daily to meet engineering requirements, schedule and cost commitments, providing production status to leadership. Designing manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designing of machine layout within plant facilities to ensure most efficient production capabilities. Creating procedures and operations for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Providing guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Writing production planning, inspecting and assessing defective hardware, and optimizing production flow to meet program deliverables. Interfacing with shop floor personnel to implement process improvements to gain efficiencies and represent manufacturing in peer reviews of engineering drawings to enhance the design for manufacturability. Tool design, analysis of shop performance, and supporting Quality Assurance in determining Cause and Corrective Actions for process-related defects.

Requirements

  • Experience writing or reviewing manufacturing work instructions or similar documentation.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, quality, or a production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and/or electrical engineering drawings, schematics and/or specifications.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Ability to work in Courtland and Huntsville as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience involving assembly integration and test or similar types of processes.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience working with Government customers.
  • Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space Systems processes (Earn Value Management Systems, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Work Instructions, Routings, Production Orders, Bill of Materials, Qnotes, FFMEAs, FOE/FOD, Savant, Specs LMS1000 and EMS200, etc.) or industry equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space systems tools (SAP, EPDM, VECAMS, PMP Database, etc.) or industry equivalent.
  • Aerospace or defense systems electrical and/or mechanical assembly experience or experience in a similar hardware type processing facility.
  • Final secret security clearance.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no direction.
  • Experience collaborating with a multi functional team.
