In this role at GKN Driveline, you will lead and support engineering process improvement efforts within a dynamic and innovative environment. As a key player in the manufacturing process, you will serve as the primary point of contact for Process Engineering, specifically focusing on CNC programming, tooling, and troubleshooting process and equipment issues. Your responsibilities will include writing and modifying CNC programs for various production equipment such as turning lathes and mills, as well as designing and fabricating tooling either internally or through external suppliers. Collaboration with tooling vendors and suppliers will be essential to drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. You will also be tasked with designing or modifying manufacturing processes aimed at enhancing safety, quality, and cost reduction, while managing Machin Risk Assessments (MRAs). Supporting new program launch activities from quotation through to launch phases will be a critical aspect of your role, where you will review proposed designs for Design for Manufacturing (DFM), provide inputs for rates and investments, and lead the process of manufacturing prototypes, including the completion of Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs). Additionally, you will manage and support capital projects, which will involve developing equipment specifications, coordinating equipment runoffs, overseeing installation, and managing external contractors. Maintaining and updating drawings for production equipment, developing engineering solutions for repetitive equipment/process failures, and achieving financial objectives through budget preparation and project management will also be part of your responsibilities. You will assist in identifying departmental training requirements and may provide training to enhance skill levels within the team. Furthermore, you will review, recommend, and coordinate Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), and Predictive Maintenance programs to prevent equipment failures and maximize uptime. Your role will also involve supporting cross-functional activities aimed at improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
