About The Position

Join us in becoming the premier die casting manufacturer and engineering solutions supplier worldwide. As a site leader for safety, quality, and labor improvements to the plant die cast operations, you will oversee improvement projects for existing production across 31 die cast machines responsible for the production of approximately 3 million parts per year in a highly complex and automated 300,000 ft²+ facility. You will partner with operations and lead and execute improvement projects for the team.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related technical degree.
  • 2 years’ experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Strong Lean expertise.
  • Strong manufacturing process equipment expertise.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (written and verbal) to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to identify and implement best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • 6-sigma DMAIC & DFSS certified.
  • Prior foundry or die cast experience.
  • Prior experience with lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Solid working knowledge of quality systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated program or project management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience owning production processes and growing capability in yield and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Drive improved product quality, capacity, and productivity by identifying manufacturing issues and developing advanced manufacturing cost-effective solutions.
  • Oversee successful implementation into production of new methods, processes, tooling, and equipment.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with process engineering, operations management, and external vendors to deliver best practices and solutions to the die cast operations.
  • Uphold high safety and 5S standards.
  • Act as a coach for the rest of the team and work to develop and implement engineering solutions to improve housekeeping and safety.
  • Track and deliver improvements to OEE on key die cast machines to enhance productivity and delivery for the facility.
  • Implement improvements to SMED on key die cast machines to improve uptime.
  • Partner with the maintenance department to drive up preventative maintenance effectiveness by improving the robustness of PMs.
  • Seek out best practices at trade shows and benchmark other sites.
  • Perform time studies, operator balance charts, and Kaizens to drive labor improvements to die cast operations.
  • Redesign value stream or work cell as necessary by leveraging 3P methodologies to deliver labor savings.
  • Strive to be a leader of Six Sigma methodologies and leverage data-driven approaches to improve productivity.
  • Conduct statistical studies to analyze and reduce variation present in manufacturing processes.
