As a Manufacturing Engineering at our Auburn, Alabama site, you will plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes within a manufacturing facility. You will execute standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines, collaborate with a cross-functional teams to resolve day-to-day manufacturing opportunities, troubleshoot, and resolve process and product issues through immediate and long-term planning.

  • Hands-on, shop floor support to assigned manufacturing processes and teams to deliver business results while encouraging input from area personnel working within a self-directed workforce (Teaming) environment.
  • Exhibit ownership and take responsibility in attaining required aspects of production operation including safety, quality, delivery, and team development in assigned areas.
  • Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method of manufacture.
  • Utilize process performance data, identify and implement manufacturing process improvements to improve quality, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Participate in the development of mid and long term plans outlining projects to support the business in meeting its objectives with a strong focus on part quality, cycle time and cost.
  • Author/improve process planning, evaluate operating methods, select controls, and specify tools, fixtures, and gages necessary to repeatedly build conforming hardware.
  • Conduct process training as required.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Assist production coaches and associates in resolving manufacturing process hindrances through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action.
  • Explain technical information to others, as needed, to assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Display a dedicated, team-oriented work ethic with personal ownership while having a goal-focused mindset.
  • Promote internal and external customer satisfaction and develop positive relationships.
  • Act as a change agent, understanding and moving the operation toward benchmarked, best of class performance and staying updated on industry developments and best practices.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years' experience in a technical skillset in a manufacturing environment).
  • Have flexibility in hours/shift of work; ability to flex schedule for training and/or shop coverage needs.
  • High sense of urgency, bias for action with customer-service mindset, and able to effectively contribute to a high performing team.
  • Self-motivated to be a proactive problem solver, driving process improvements.
  • Hands-on, shop floor manufacturing experience within a regulated environment.
  • Direct experience with machining processes and strong education background with aptitude and desire to learn from experienced personnel.
  • Experience in the interpretation of engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Creep feed grind experience, a plus.
  • Ability to make data driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools.
  • Knowledge of quality procedures.
