About The Position

Detroit Speed is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and play a key role in developing manufacturing processes, work instructions, fixtures, and production equipment at our Mooresville, NC location. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll work closely with our Operations and Engineering teams to enhance manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience required.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication processes (i.e., welding, laser cutting, tube bending) in the automotive industry.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach to problem solving and quality improvement.
  • Positive attitude with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with manufacturing equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening) with the ability to build strong relationships across teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and SolidWorks.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Verified personal and professional values aligning with QA1.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Analyze workflows, space utilization, and equipment layout to enhance productivity.
  • Establish cycle time and set-up time estimates for various manufacturing processes.
  • Design, create and put into action jigs, fixtures, and specialized equipment to support both new and existing products.
  • Lead initiatives to improve machine performance, troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and fixtures, and ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Create and maintain work instructions and SOPs to ensure consistency and efficiency across processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to the operations team to ensure they follow best practices.
  • Drive efforts to identify unnecessary costs and research methods for cost reduction.
  • Continuously improve processes through innovative solutions that help reduce production costs while enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical support for plant layout, equipment upgrades, and support the purchase and installation of new equipment.
