The role involves applying knowledge of materials, engineering theory, design methods, manufacturing systems, and processes to enhance product manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities include developing and implementing plans for cost reduction and manufacturing floor efficiency improvements, following the production of mature projects to identify areas for overall cost effectiveness improvement, and engaging in creative problem-solving to address operational and safety issues. The position also requires providing multi-directional feedback between engineering, manufacturing, and quality for continuous improvement, evaluating and improving engineering and manufacturing processes, and developing standard operating procedures. Additionally, the role involves designing tools, generating drawings, creating work instructions, and training staff in new and existing processes while collaborating with R&D engineers to test and validate manufacturing improvements.
