In this role at GKN Driveline, you will lead and support engineering process improvement efforts within a dynamic manufacturing environment. As a key point of contact for Process Engineering, you will be responsible for CNC programming, tooling, and troubleshooting process and equipment issues in collaboration with the Production department. Your expertise will be crucial in writing and modifying CNC programs for various production equipment, including turning lathes and mills, ensuring that our manufacturing processes are efficient and effective. You will also design, modify, and fabricate tooling either internally or through suppliers, working closely with tooling vendors to implement improvements that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. Your role will involve designing or modifying manufacturing processes aimed at safety improvements, quality enhancements, cost reductions, or accommodating design changes. You will own and manage Machin Risk Assessments (MRAs) to ensure compliance and safety standards are met. Supporting new program launch activities will be a significant part of your responsibilities, where you will review proposed designs for Design for Manufacturing (DFM), provide inputs for rates and investments, and manage the ordering of tooling and equipment. Upon the award of business, you will lead the process of manufacturing prototypes and completing Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs). Additionally, you will manage and support capital projects, which includes developing equipment specifications, coordinating equipment runoffs, overseeing the installation of equipment, and managing external contractors. You will be tasked with updating and maintaining drawings for production equipment, including layouts, and developing engineering solutions for repetitive equipment and process failures. Achieving financial objectives is essential, and you will assist in budget preparation, scheduling expenditures, managing project budgets, and initiating corrective actions as necessary. You will also play a role in identifying departmental training requirements and may provide training to enhance skill levels within the team. Furthermore, you will review, recommend, and coordinate Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), and Predictive Maintenance programs to prevent equipment failures and maximize uptime. Your support in cross-functional activities will be vital in improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost across the organization.
