The position involves determining and specifying all production equipment, tooling fixtures, and processes necessary to investigate, monitor, and rectify any manufacturing deficiencies. The role also includes implementing Lean Manufacturing philosophies in the area of 5S, JIT, TQC (Total Quality Control), and Total Preventative Productive Maintenance throughout the manufacturing facility.

  • Collaborates with Design Engineering, Production Supervisor, and Group leaders for manufacturability ('Design for Assembly') of new products and participates in Design Reviews.
  • Determines, specifies, and implements the necessary tooling, facilities, fixturing processes, and production equipment required, including vendor selection, for manufacturing.
  • Conducts Value Analysis on existing products.
  • Develops, justifies, and implements process and assembly improvements for existing products in tools, fixtures, and production equipment.
  • Proposes and implements approaches to the design and development of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and Plant/Work Center layout.
  • Balances line production (manufacturing) based on sales/marketing requirements.
  • Prepares various reports such as cash flow, make vs. buy analysis, etc., and analyzes related expenses for recommendations to production.
  • Evaluates, monitors, and analyzes direct and indirect labor performance to standards.
  • Assists Design and Test Engineering and specifies the necessary equipment for testing.
  • Instructs and trains supervisors and group leaders on proper operation of production machinery and equipment.
  • Develops teams to investigate and resolve routine production problems.
  • Visits suppliers to qualify them and resolve problems that may have arisen.
  • Conducts Cost/Router/Material Usage Audits as required by Cost Accounting/Marketing.
  • Participates in order review, SMV approvals and assists with integration group.
  • Supports and sustains existing manufacturing processes and products by maintaining and updating engineering documentation, including drawings, revision control, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions to ensure alignment with production and quality standards.
  • Performs other duties, assignments, and special projects that may be required from time to time.
  • Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering.
  • CAD/CAM experience.
  • Microcomputer proficiency in major packages.
  • A minimum of three to five years' experience in a manufacturing work environment.
