About The Position

This position supports Shaft Manufacturing in our Access and Delivery Solution Assembly business in Maple Grove, MN. The role of Manufacturing Engineer III is to lead engineering initiatives for the daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment to meet operations goals. In a fast-paced and dynamic environment, this position will be . This individual will be required to routinely partner with cross-functional and cross-site teams (Production, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Process Development, Supplier, etc.) to evaluate, troubleshoot and implement manufacturing processes within the business unit. This role will demonstrate commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Manufacturing, Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical)
  • 4+ years of engineering experience
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing problem solving, data analysis, and production flow tools (i.e. DMAIC and LEAN manufacturing)
  • Proven ability to provide creative solutions and collaboratively draw ideas from cross functional teams

Nice To Haves

  • Device assembly/testing and packaging systems experience
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in the medical device industry
  • Experience performing equipment qualification activities (testing, documentation, training, etc.)
  • Experience with polymers, sub-assemblies and/or thermal processes
  • Aptitude for advanced data analysis

Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance of equipment and processes, providing troubleshooting and root cause analysis of non-conformances, low yields, or other quality/production issues.
  • Communicate effectively to an audience consisting of peers, operations management, and supporting divisions (R&D, Sustaining Engineering, Project Management, etc)
  • Plan, organize and prioritize daily work to meet production and project goals.
  • Apply problem solving and process improvement methodologies to complex and diverse manufacturing processes, across multiple product lines - lead root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Mentor team members, including engineers, technicians, and manufacturing operators.
  • Supports technicians during troubleshooting activities when technical issues arise on the production floor.
  • Recognize quality signals and escalate appropriately within the quality system requirements.
  • Lead projects with cross-functional team members working towards common business goals and gaining support for new ideas and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with divisional customer teams (Production, Quality, R&D, Sustaining Engineering, Regulatory, Supply Chain, other) to deliver on process improvements, change management, new product introductions, or business continuity projects.
  • Gather, analyze, and summarize data - drawing conclusions, and reporting out to peers and management.
  • Takes initiative to identify improvement opportunities, prioritize them, communicate them to the appropriate levels and sees them through to completion.
