About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer III serves as a senior technical leader responsible for driving complex process improvements, leading cross-functional initiatives, and supporting strategic manufacturing goals. This role applies advanced engineering expertise to optimize production systems, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. The position contributes to organizational success by mentoring junior engineers, leading high-impact projects, and ensuring alignment between engineering, operations, and quality teams. It plays a critical role in shaping the future of AAON’s manufacturing capabilities.

Requirements

  • Requires a four-year ABET-accredited degree in engineering or an equivalent technical degree in applied sciences
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role within the HVAC or a similar industry; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing systems, process engineering, and production optimization
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex technical drawings and specifications
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience with lean tools, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken form
  • Strong decision-making, organizational, and mentoring skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Sit or stand for up to 95% of work hours
  • Regular visits to the manufacturing floor with exposure to seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and chemical fumes

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certifications in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or project management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced manufacturing strategies to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Analyze complex production challenges and develop innovative solutions using data-driven methodologies.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of new products and processes into manufacturing.
  • Oversee the design and optimization of production layouts, tooling, and workflows for maximum productivity and safety.
  • Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Manage large-scale projects, including capital equipment installations, process automation, and lean transformation initiatives.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, materials, and methods to maintain a competitive edge in HVAC manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in engineering practices.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, cost analyses, and project updates to leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
